I’m very intrigued by unique businesses. I’m doubly intrigued by those businesses that “get it” when it comes to social media. I was made aware of The Treats Truck when someone I follow on Twitter referenced them this past fall. So, I followed them on Twitter and then visited their website to learn more about the business. They use Twitter (@TheTreatsTruck) to announce where they will be parking that day to sell their standard and specialty baked goods, which include a variety of cookies, brownies and customer-inspired creations.
The Treats Truck is a retail mobile bakery that offers a “daily variety of baked goods made with quality, wholesome ingredients.” Unlike most small businesses, their tagline is supremely appropriate: “Not Too Fancy, Always Delicious!” The Treats Truck was born from the vision of Kim Ima (owner/baker/driver/eater), who was inspired by her love of baking, love of treats and love of New York to open her bakery. Kim and her team do all of the baking at a location in Red Hook, Brooklyn – preparing enough daily treats to sell on the streets of NYC and to fill any special orders or deliveries scheduled for the day. I visited The Treats Truck last week when I saw a Tweet that the truck would be parked on 38th & 5th Ave and can speak from firsthand experience that it was worth the visit.

That’s a fabulous concept! I wonder how they are able to let people know where they are going to be in advance when finding a spot in NYC can be such a daunting proposition? Are the tweets sent out in the morning once they are in a position for the day or are they sent in advance?
They send a Tweet once they are parked and in position. They also update a schedule on their website each day: http://www.treatstruck.com/?page_id=3.
