One would think that moving back to New York would make holidays easier. Well, that isn’t the case. But it’s also not a bad thing, because easier is usually boring.
Courtney and I split each holiday between her family and mine. Since we live with my parents currently, the trek down the stairs is not an arduous task. I can’t say the same for the roundtrip voyage, though, to her parents house on Long Island. We have to navigate the NYS Thruway and LI Expressway – with a couple bridges and roads in between. It’s a drive that usually takes anywhere between 2-2.5 hours to complete (depending on traffic, of course).
Fortunately, her family was flexible enough to accommodate us for an Easter brunch, so that we could head back to my parents house for Easter dinner. And despite the mid-day drive, it was a very relaxing day filled with family.
